About the Foundation
Rosedale Foundation
The Rosedale Foundation serves the students and staff of Rosedale School. The Rosedale School provides educational programming for students in the Austin Independent School District, ages 3-22, who have significant medical, physical and cognitive disabilities. One-third of the school’s students reside in residential facilities, one-third live in group homes and one-third live at home with their families. A significant number of Rosedale’s students use wheelchairs for mobility and communicate using augmentative devices.
In 1999, the Rosedale Foundation was incorporated (501-C3) for the purpose of raising funds and promoting awareness in support of Rosedale School. In addition to soliciting donations from individuals and organizations, the Rosedale Foundation raises funds through its annual charity bicycle ride, the Rosedale Ride (this year sponsored by Samsung Austin Semiconductor and hosted by Applied Materials).
The Rosedale Ride began in 1995 as a fundraising event for the School by Rosedale parent, Kenny Lloyd. The Foundation commits the net of all proceeds directly to Rosedale School programs and events, including the Community Integration Program, Following the budget and program goals set by Rosedale School, the Foundation funds special program and training support for students and staff—beyond the basic operating costs covered by AISD. Under the supervision of the annual School planning committee, Foundation support has typically gone toward the following program-related expenses: special program supplies, adaptive equipment, academic materials, staff training and individual needs.
The Eleventh Annual Rosedale Ride on April 2nd, 2005 attracted over 1200 riders. Ride participants range from Rosedale program partners to corporate sponsors to individual supporters. Other fundraising activities by the Rosedale Foundation include individual and corporate donations, online fundraising, employee charitable campaigns and grants development.
